NEWS: Fort Collins City Council Openly Objects to the N287 Batch Plant.

A new concrete batch plant is proposed just outside north Fort Collins, and this time, it's not just neighbors who are against it. The city of Fort Collins has gone on record as being opposed to it. (READ THE FULL ARTICLE)

There is an existing environmental burden.

The census tract across the street from the proposed site scores 94 out of 100, with the higher number being worse, on the Colorado EnviroScreen from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This score represents the environmental burden on the residents of that area.

Concrete batch plants create proven air pollution and health dangers.

The Environmental Protection Agency has concluded that the air pollution and particulate matter dust from concrete batch plants can increase the risk of asthma and cardiac arrest. Additionally, a 2023 study and EPA report found that siting Concrete Batch Plants near residential communities lead to health damages and premature deaths, far outweighing the economic development benefits. These health risks are even more significant to children and the elderly.
